Facebook is the most popular mobile app in America, with over 700 million mobile daily active users. The amount of time spent on Facebook has created new opportunities for businesses and brands, but in 2015 the organic reach of those pages will reach all-time lows. Facebook Ads and Promoted Posts are designed to get more eyes on your content, for a price. In order to optimize the results of your paid Facebook initiatives and get more bang for your buck, we suggest using Custom Audiences. Custom Audiences lets you reach customers you already know with ads on Facebook.
Here is a 5 step guide on how you can create your own Custom Audience on Facebook
Before we start building your Custom Audience on Facebook, make sure you are already an admin on the page you are creating an audience for. Facebook also suggests your Custom Audience has at least 100 people to help ensure meaningful reach with your ads.
1) To Start, Open Your Facebook Ads Manager Page
This section of Facebook will show the entire history of your Facebook Advertising activity and serve as a starting point for your next initiative using Custom Audiences.
2) Click on Audiences in the left side Ads Manager window
3) Select Create Audience and then Custom Audience from the drop down menu
4) Now, choose the type of audience you want to create on Facebook and start building.
For this example, we’re going to use a customer list. The data source for the customer list of your Facebook Custom Audience can be a .CSV or .TXT file of:
- Phone numbers
- Facebook IDs
- Mobile Advertiser IDs
5) Add the data for your custom audience
You can choose to upload a file you’ve exported and saved, copy the data directly into the page, or import a list from MailChimp (if you use it).
We’re going to upload a .txt file of email addresses we exported from the SocialSign.in dashboard.
If you have a Facebook app, you can try User IDs, however, you will need to have the APP ID too.
(Find it in your App Dashboard)
Once you select “Create Audience”, Facebook will process the data you provide, which can take up to 30 minutes depending on the size of your audience. When it is ready you will receive a notification and can begin building your ad.
